Who are these men and why should we care? What do they have to say to us in the 21st century? Bernard of Chartes, a medieval theologian, once remarked, "We are all dwarfs, standing on the shoulders of giants." What Bernard was pointing out was that we can see further than these men, not because we are smarter, but because we have the advantage of seeing from their giant shoulders. In the past, we covered folks such as Augustine of Hippo, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Jonathan Edwards. This year it is our previlege to examine the contributions of Athanasius, Anselm of Canterbury, William Tyndale, and C. S. Lewis. It is our goal to learn from the past by learning from these men, without being bound by them. They were not perfect and had problems of their own, but their problems were not the same as ours; perhaps, they can shed some light for the church in the 21st century.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin. . . . ~ Eph. 1:7
